2 piece can manufacturing process? I will explain it in detail in this article today.
Two-piece can manufacturing process and characteristics
1. The process flow of shallow drawing can is:
Blanking → deep drawing → can bottom forming → flanging → trimming
Shallow drawn cans are often used for food cans, and tinplate materials are mostly used. Since the height-to-diameter ratio of the drawing (the ratio of the can height to the can diameter) is less than 1, it can be formed by only one drawing. Yellowing and iron printing can be performed before deep drawing. Special deformation printing is required. Through the deformation analysis of the metal sheet in the process of drawing metal packaging articles and container technical standard application manuals, the deformed printing pattern can be drawn by the computer. The graphics return to normal after deep drawing. The yellowing and printing of iron before drawing can withstand the processes of deformation and friction during drawing. The follow-up process of the two-piece can after drawing and trimming is exactly the same as that of the three-piece can, and the equipment can be used in common.
Blanking-pre-drawing → re-drawing (or multiple drawing), forming the bottom of the can, flanging → trimming
2.The process flow of deep drawing can (DRD can) is:
Deep-drawn cans are also commonly used in food cans. They are made of low-carbon steel plate and tinplate. The drawing height-to-diameter ratio is greater than 1, and it often takes two or more times of drawing to be formed. It is impossible for any kind of yellowing or printing to withstand high-diameter drawing such as this large drawing deformation, so deep drawing and the thinning and drawing described below use full internal spray and can body printing after drawing.
Coil unrolling→lubricant coating→cutting and pre-drawing repeatedly deep drawing→multiple times thinning and deep drawing→can bottom forming→trimming→cleaning
3. The process flow of thinning deep drawing can (D can) is:
Drying one → outer coating → baking on → surface printing → upper bottom cover varnish-drying → inner wall coating → drying → necking and flanging
Thinning deep drawing cans are often used for carbonated or nitrogen-filled beverage cans with aeration. Aluminum or low-carbon steel plates (tinplate, TULC plates, etc.) are used for drawing with a height-to-diameter ratio greater than 1. The difference with deep drawn cans is that the wall thickness of deep drawn cans is thick and uniform, while the material of the bottom and mouth of the thinned deep drawn can is thicker, and the thickness of the can wall is as thin as 0.14mm (aluminum plate) or 0.1mm (steel plate). In order to meet the production needs of large quantities of beverages, the thinning and deep drawing can manufacturing equipment has a high degree of automation, and the production speed is very fast. The drawing die is quite different from the previous two two-piece can manufacturing dies, so the equipment is also much larger and more complicated.
