Can Lid Adhesive Distribution: Key Requirements
A qualified can lid undergoes three critical stages: stamping, adhesive application, and drying. The adhesive film’s distribution during application is pivotal for quality sealing.
Ideal Adhesive Film Criteria

- Uniformity: Continuous appearance with equal dry adhesive volume per quarter/eighth of the lid.
- Circumferential Distribution: Sealing adhesive must align precisely along the lid’s edge.
Overlap Control Challenges
- Target: Achieve 2.1 or 3.1 adhesive circles via slight overlap (avoiding exact 2/3 circles)
- Limits:
- Overlap area ≤ 1/8 of a circle
- Overlap adhesive weight ≤ 25% of non-overlapping quarters

Critical Parameters for Precision
- Applicator Head Design: Number of adhesive circles
- Sensor Timing: Plunger opening delay & dwell time
- Mechanical Settings: Plunger height and cap-head alignment
- Rotation Requirements: Minimum 3 full rotations at high position
- Gear Ratio: Must be ≥ 6.01 for consistent application
